Where did you get THAT name? :-)

*EDIT: I figured out how to "linky" :) Wow, that was easy!*

I absolutely LOVE "Kelly's Korner"! It's a blog I follow on a regular basis and she just seems like the sweetest southern girl EVER! :) She does a series every week called "Show Us Your Life" where she chooses topics and then writes about them. I don't know how to do all that fun, technically savy, "linky" stuff, so I normally don't participate, but this weeks topic just got me and I had to share..."Your Kids Name(s)" I still don't know how to link it up to her blog, but I still want to write about it :)

So here is the story behind Manuel Christopher and Mia Grace...

The story behind Manuel's name is pretty simple...before we knew he would be a he it was just known that he would be Manuel. He is named after his daddy, his grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. All of their first names are Manuel, but they each have different middle names so technically he is not a "5th." My husband told me since I had no say ;) in his first name that I could pick the middle name so I chose Christopher after moi! :) My name was going to be Christopher if I was a boy, so I just stuck with Christopher.

Now Mia's name definitley has a story behind it...when I was pregnant with Manuel, before I knew he was a he, I chose my girls name and that was Isabella Grace. We would call her Bella, which means beautiful in Italian (I am Italian and my mom and all her family before her were born in Italy, well Sicily technically.) So I just fell in love with the name Isabella Grace. When we found out that we were having a boy, we put Isabella Grace in our memory banks and moved on :) On May 6th 2008 my sister gave birth to triplets, Mateo, Ian and Anthony all who went to be with the Lord. From that day forward I decided that if I had a little girl I would take the first letter of each of their names, "M" "I" and "A" and name her Mia, and just stick with Grace as the middle name because I think Grace is a BEAUTIFUL middle name. At the end of August 2009 we found out that #2 was going to be a little girl and so it became official...Mia Grace! :)

To all the mommies out there...Happy Mothers Day!! Whether your babies are grown, still babies, or living with the Lord, or perhaps haven't been born yet, know that you are special! :)

Love and prayers,
Christina

Blog name?

First off, I am posting twice in one day! I don't think I have done that since the day I started my blog :) But something is driving me crazy...

When I first started this blog, I was the mommy to Manuel Christopher and the wife to Manuel Curtis (get it...MC^2) So I thought, "Heck, that's a cute name for a blog...E=MC^2). Well, now Mia is here and although she is an "M" she is not a "C" (her middle name is Grace). So what is a mommy to do?????? I don't think I can change my blog name without messing up everything (or perhaps I can and I'm just not "blog savy" enough to do it????? :) And by "messing up everything" I mean losing the ZERO readers I have ;) But still, decisions, decisions. What if I really get into the whole blogging thing one day and then Mia is old enough to read it...will she feel abandoned and left out (ha! That's a bit dramatic :) but I do feel bad! :)

I need to think of something to include Mia in my blog title. Hmmmmm...

He can be SO sweet :)

Manuel, Mia and I were driving to drop Manuel off at school this morning and he said to me,

"Mommy, how do sick people get to Heaven?" (he has experienced loss in his 4 short years of life, but it has only been people/babies who were sick).

I said, "Jesus comes and gets them and takes them to Heaven."

He said, "Well if I had a pogo stick I'd jump VERY high and go to Heaven to see PopPop (my dad who died in May 2009) and if you had a pogo stick you could go visit him too."

If only it were that easy! :) Dad, I love you and miss you SO much! I am so happy that Manuel got to know you for 4 short years and he loves you SO much! I only wish Mia could have known her PopPop too, but I know you are watching over us all! :)

Please, for her mother and MIL's sake! :-)

I came across this blog, courtesy of C Jane...

www.thekingandiblog.com

She is gathering research for her thesis and needs our help! Take a few minutes, visit her blog and fill out the blog questionnaire she has posted. As incentive she is giving away a $100 gift certificate to two people who fill it out (on or around May 1st). Go ahead, you know you wanna! :) And if I was technically savy enough to know how to post the link DIRECTLY to her post about this questionnaire I would, BUT unfortunately I have no clue. SOOOO go to her blog and on the right hand side, at the top is a link for "Blog Questionnaire"

And in case you were wondering about my post title..she has said that she will not start having children until her thesis is done! :) As mommies, we all know how awesome children are, and everyone needs to have AT LEAST one, so help her out! :)

Welcome Spring!

It's been a long time since I've blogged but I was feeling inspired this morning so I thought, "Why not?" :) Life has been crazy since my last post, as you can imagine with our household going from 3 to 4. That might not seem major to some people but going from 1 child to 2 is a HUGE adjustment, albeit a wonderful adjustment, nonetheless a change! :) The Gomez household is finally settling in and being a mommy of two BEAUTIFUL children is such a blessing. God certainly knows what he is doing when He puts these precious little beings in our lives! No matter how bad of a day I'm having or how TIRED I am, one smile, one coo, one "I love you mommy. Let's snuggle!" makes all of the craziness of the day immediately disappear. Manuel is settling into the role of big brother very well. He calls Mia "my little girl" and it's adorable. I can honestly say it hasn't always been so pleasant. Now don't get me wrong, he has ALWAYS been amazing with Mia since they day he met her, but his 4 year old little mind was old enough to manipulate Manny and I! :) He always wanted to help, hold, feed and play with her, but if goodness forbid we weren't 100% focused on him at any given time he'd let us know. He would throw tantrums, say "You don't love me anymore", "You're going to trade me in now that Mia is here" and the list goes on and on. All normal things to happen as a child is adjusting to a baby in the house but when you are running on no sleep those things can REALLY get to you. At one point I looked at my husband and said, "Oh my goodness what have we done?" Not in a bad way, but I felt like we had "neglected" Manuel for this new little baby. Needless to say all the craziness of the first few weeks has subsided and life is great! Mia is 8 weeks old (she'll be 9 weeks on Monday) and I'm back to work! :( I loved coming back and seeing all my wonderful co-workers, but leaving her was AWFUL! The days leading up to my return to work were heartbreaking to put it lightly and I just had an awful time with it! But when I dropped her off at Linnie's on Monday morning (a daycare lady that is more like a second mom and just wonderful! She took care of Manuel from the time he was 8 months old until he started school this past January) I pulled out of her driveway and didn't shed a tear! I was SO proud of myself (although I had shed enough tears the days prior to make up for it! :) But still, I didn't cry! My first week back to work is almost over (come on 4:30! :) and I can honestly say that although I'd love to be a stay-at-home mom financially we can't do it right now, so I'll settle for my children getting the best care I could ask for! :)

Hopefully it won't be two months before I post another blog! :)

She's here!

Mia Grace entered the world on Monday, January 18th. She was 7lbs 3 oz, 20 inches long and just the cutest little baby ever (well, tied with Manuel, of course :) She is named in honor of her angel triplet cousins, Mateo, Ian and Anthony...using the first letter of each of their names. She was born via c-section and we will be getting to go home tomorrow. I can't wait to settle in as a family of 4!!!

So close...

A Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!! :) I hope this post finds you well and enjoying 2010. As my pastor said in church on Sunday, "I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that He holds the future" so I am trying to keep that my motto for the new year. Sometimes it's hard to relinquish control of things and just let God take over, but I'm trying! :)

Our little girl will be here in 13 days (or less) and we are ecstatic! Lots of changes for our family in January...Manuel started preschool yesterday (he did great! I cried like a baby for about 2 hours straight! :), our little girl will be here on January 18th, and then Manuel turns for on January 31st. SO much excitement and I thank God for providing these wonderful opportunities for our family. I know that we have SO much more then most people in this world and need to thank God every day for that!

Cheers to 2010. My next post will be pics of my baby girl (HOPEFULLY! I am so scared that "she" is going to come out a "he"-OH NO! :)
