Happy 5th Birthday Manuel!

Today, my first born turns 5! (at exactly 3:30pm) I have SO many things I want to say and write about, but for now, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANUEL will have to do! :) Our Internet is down at home (not sure why, UGH!) and both of the kids had their 1 year and 5 year check-ups today, so here it is 1:30pm and I JUST got to work! :)

Manuel, I love you more then life itself. You are such a sweet, kind, gentle little soul and Mommy is SO proud of you! At your appointment today you weighed 48 lbs and you are 44 1/2 inches tall. You are doing great developementally, emotionally, physically. THANKFULLY you didn't have to get any shots (YAY!!! :) Mommy dropped you off at school with cupcakes to celebrate the big day. Your birthday party is at Chuck E Cheese this Saturday and I can't wait! I love you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! I pray that you continue to be the amazing little person you are, that you grow in your faith each and every day and that you become the teenager and adult that I know you are capable of being. Words can not express my love for you! Happy 5th birthday sweet boy! :)

*Yes, hubby and I went out on Saturday and had SUCH a great time! The sushi was delicious (as was the wine! ;) We had a wonderful time with our friends. I haven't uploaded pics because I can't download pictures on my work computer :( and as I mentioned above, our Internet at home isn't working :( Hopefully I'll get pics up soon. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!!!! :)

Pictures and misc...

Happy Friday! I'm excited for this weekend! Hubby and I have date night tomorrow with a group of friends and their hubbies. We are going to dinner at Chopstix (sushi) and then out for drinks. (well hubby won't be drinking, because he doesn't drink alcohol, but I will be enjoying a few cocktails! :) As I've mentioned before, we don't get out much (and actually I have NEVER even spent the night away from Mia!) but that's by our choice. As we've gotten older, we've just become more homebodies and that's how we like it! :) But a night out, every now and again, is good to help keep our sanity. Hopefully this means I'll FINALLY have a Stepping' Out Saturday post! :)

Now, on to Manuel. Here are some random cell phone pics (and ones that aren't from a cell phone) that I came across that I just adore...

Manuel's first time in the hospital, when he had a febrile seizure (before they knew that's what it was :(
Hanging out at PopPop's house (he adored my dad!)
At the park with Mommy and Daddy :)                  Trying on his Mom-mom's new scarf! :)
Another hospital stay-relaxing with Daddy, being adorable! :)

My almost 5 year old...

T-minus 4 days until my first born turns 5! :) He really is such a sweet kid! I'm working from home today (because of the snow) and watching him and Mia interact is so cute. He is currently pushing her around on her Leap Frog bus, being extra careful so that she won't fall off :)

He's growing up SO fast..
Manuel: "My toes hurt!"
Me: "Really bud?"
Manuel: "Yes, because they are growing. Remember Mommy, I'm going to be 5 and start kindergarent soon." :(

Don't get me wrong, he tests my patience (more then twenty once a day! ;) but I love him more then words can express!

And for good measure...(apparently he was going through a no smiling stage! (minus the last pic! ;))

Wordless(ish) Wednesday

A few weeks ago I mentioned my black eye but I never posted a pic, so I'm taking a break from Manuel's celebration (which I will post his pics later), to share a pic of Mia and I from her 1st birthday (the actual day of) AND my black eye, UGH! :) It actually got significantly worst then this! :) Don't mind the Christmas jammies! ;)

Celebration of Manuel (cont)

*See yesterdays posts to read about Mia's Winter ONEderland*

I can't believe my sweet, adorable, precious first born is going to be turning 5 in a few short days. He is REALLY excited (as most of his classmates are already 5!) and he's SUPER excited for his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese on 2/5. Unfortunately Mommy made a huge mistake and made his 5 year check-up and Mia's one year check-up on the 31st (Manuel's actual b-day) which means that in the morning he'll be getting a shot (or two!) SHOTS ON HIS BIRTHDAY!??!?! Eeek, major fail on my part! :( I tried to call and re-schedule it but the nurse made it clear that since I had already scheduled this months back, trying to find another back-to-back well child appt (for both kids) was going to put me a few months out. Clearly that can't happen so hopefully Manuel will forgive me. He told me that since we are taking cupcakes to his school, after the appt, so they can celebrate his birthday, that'll make it all better. I hope so! :)

Now, on to more pics of my sweet Manuel ...

Getting ready to head to Dutch Wonderland for the first time
 Playing at Mom-moms house
Having fun in the baby pool at our old house

Meeting his cousin Makayla (on my husbands side) for the first time
Manuel and I (quite possibly my favorite pic of he and I)
Flash forward 4 big boy and I :(
He wanted to re-enact a picture I have of Mia and him like this from when she was first born. Then he needed a shot of just him :) (FOR ONCE he actually wanted his pic taken!)
After all of this birthday posting craziness is over, I've decided I'm going to "get real" here on my blog. Don't get me wrong, my life is amazing and wonderful, and everything I write on here is true, but life hasn't always been so wonderful. I've touched on it a time here or there, but never really in detail. I feel like people might judge me or stop reading but it is what it is. Although I am not always proud of where I came from (or the life I've lived) it's part of me and who I am today, so therefore it shouldn't be "hidden". I've been inspired by several blogs that I follow where they are so open and honest. It makes me want to write more from the heart, more reality and not always about how adorable my children are! :) Maybe I can inspire a reader or two, or give them hope, like reading about others REAL lives has really given me hope. Things like drug addiction, coming up on a 5 year wedding anniversary that looking back probably shouldn't be happening but because of God's grace and amazingness will be HAPPILY celebrated :), etc.

Mia's Winter ONEderland (Part 2)

So this post is just going to be a bunch of pictures from Mia's big day (see previous post for more of the details! :) I'll be back to my "Celebration of Manuel" tomorrow! :)

Mia's Winter ONEderland

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was a whirlwind, no lie, I was SO excited for Mia's party on Saturday and when it was over I kept thinking, "All the build up and now it's over..." it felt like my wedding day but not so much because hubby and I got married at the courthouse. But have no fear, that makes us no less in love then those of you who had lavish weddings :) We had just had Manuel 2 months prior and something lavish just wasn't in our budget. We hope to renew our vows one day and have something "big". Woah, that was off track, back to my point :) ....

Saturday was great! Mia was perfect  well behaved and truly enjoyed the attention! :) She is SO much like my husband (outgoing and social. Whereas Manuel and I are shy and quiet). She was happily passed from person to person, smiling away and performing all of her tricks ;) (putting up her one little finger when you ask her how old she is, patting her belly when you ask where her belly is, saying, "kitty cat", etc. :) I know most children don't "perform" when you want them to, but Mia did! :) Toddlers and Tiaras here we come (JUST KIDDING!!!! :))

I'm going to post some pics of the little "details" first, then I'll post just pics of the birthday girl in all of her cuteness! :)  .... (excuse the quality of my pics. Although they are from my moms super fancy camera, you would NOT know it because I have NOOOOOOOOOOOO clue how to use it. I was taking pics and the flash was going off when it shouldn't, wasn't going off when it should, etc. :) Oh well! :)

 The BEAUTIFUL cake! :)
The goodie bags and boxes (no, the pen was not a part of it! :)) Each age group got something a little different. The baby food jars (that I didn't get a good pic of) were the favors. They were filled with Hershey Kisses and had wintry labels on them that said, "Mia's One! Eat some candy and have some fun! January 22, 2011"
The centerpiece on each table was various Snowbabies (my mom collected them for several years so we had tons scattered throughout the party room). It really added to the theme! :)
The kids area (we brought toys from home for all the kids to play with). The winter decals on the wall came from Walmarts after Christmas clearance! :)
The birthday girls area :) with snowflakes and snowballs hanging from the ceiling
Being so preoccupied with all the details we forgot about a "smash cake" for Mia. Manny picked this up at the grocery store the morning of the party, so that is why it isn't thematic! :) And the "1" candle on top, I broke taking it out of the package, so it's taped! :)

*Okay, part 2 of pics of Mia will be up next!* :)
